Anderson Tsai Shares Three Life Lessons at CYCU Scholarship Ceremony
Anderson Tsai, President of Taiwan K.K. Corporation, attended the K.K. Outstanding Graduate Student Scholarship ceremony at the Department of Chemistry, Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU), where he represented his late father, Teng-Long Tsai, an alumnus of the department.
Reflecting on his father’s life, Anderson Tsai noted that education had transformed his father’s future. When Teng-Long Tsai founded Taiwan K.K. Corporation nearly five decades ago, the company’s work in industrial water treatment drew directly on his training in chemistry. Grateful for the department’s role in his father’s journey, he also recalled his father’s support for the department library, including the provision of books to help future generations learn and grow.
In his remarks to the scholarship recipients, Anderson Tsai shared three principles: have the courage to begin, choose the challenging path, and give your best to the role you are in.
The first principle, he said, is to have the courage to take the first step toward a dream. Drawing on Hit the Road Now!, a documentary that followed his participation in a marathon around Taiwan, he reflected that people often have dreams but may lack the courage to pursue them.
His second principle was to choose the difficult path when faced with a choice. Taking on challenges, he said, can lead to experiences and perspectives that may otherwise remain out of reach.
Finally, he encouraged students to live in the present by giving their full attention to their current responsibilities. Whether as students, family members or professionals, doing one’s best in the role at hand is a meaningful way to make the most of the present.
Anderson Tsai congratulated the scholarship recipients and encouraged them to carry these principles with them as they pursue their studies and future goals.
